  • Viewport navigation breaks

    Hi there,

in the generation panel, whenever I connect generators to other generators, by dragging and dropping them onto each other, the navigation in the 3D viewport breaks, and instead starts controlling the angle of the light source. This is pretty much consistent behaviour and the only fix is to restart SpeedTree. Could this get fixed for the next upgrade patch please?

    I am on OSX 10.6.7

    Cheers!

Did you get the 6.2 update that went live Friday? We haven't announced it yet but the auto updater should get it. This sounds like one of the bugs we fixed.

      Hi Michael,

thanks for replying. I'm still on 6.1.3 so I'll download the update and see if it fares better.

      Cheers!

Okay, so I upgraded to 6.2 but now it seems that its broken even more. I can no longer tumble (rotate) the model view at all. Dolly yes, Track yes but no tumble.
This is with the Maya control Scheme set in the Preferences.

Unless IÔÇÖm missing something, can I roll back to 6.1.3? Because this wonÔÇÖt do at all.

        Cheers.

Do you by any chance have it set to Maya control scheme? I just found a bug in there after hunting for what could be going wrong for you. We'll roll out another update for that.

For now, if you are using maya control scheme, you can set it back to default or max controls because they work. If you wish to roll back to 6.1.3, you'll just need to reinstall it and not run the updater.

Your original 6.1.3 bug has a workaround, I believe. It was that key messages on macosx were a little different from other platforms so sometimes keys would get stuck at certain times. 'v' is the key that makes the light move. You could hit it once to let the app know it was up. This new bug, unfortunately, is unrelated to that one.

          Sorry for any inconvenience

Thanks Greg. Yes I was using the Maya control scheme. I'm not accustomed to the other two, but they did seem to be able to do tumbling via some combination of key presses and mouse clicks. For now I'll stick with 6.1.3 and try out your 'v' key suggestion and look forward to the next update.

The 6.2.1 update is on the server now. It adds left-right Maya style zooming as well. Thanks for the report!

Wow... 0-day fix. Very fast. Well done and thank you.
I'll download and try it out later today.

                Cheers!

This problem seems to have come back with a vengence in v6.2.2 Studio Edition. I’ve been encountering it the whole day today. Triggered in the exact same manner as described in the original post.

We're seeing it here again as well. There's a new release scheduled to go out soon and we should have it fixed again in that one. Thanks for the report.

Ah ok. So it’s not just me. Good to know. Looking forward to the fix.

                      Thank you.

Hi guys, old thread resurrection, because I'm still getting this problem many times every day. On both Linux and OSX. Will this be fixed permanently in the new upcoming release?

same, on MacOSX 10.15.4 running Speedtree v8.4.2 Cinema Edition (trial).
Seems like when I flip back and forth between a different navigation method (right-click in viewport) .. it gets fixed.

so going back and forth from:
                          Window > Navigation > Standard
                          to
                          Window > Navigation > Trackball
                          and then back to Standard...

                          Cheers

                            Hello,

There were a couple things discussed here, and the thread is pretty old. Could you describe the specific bug you are seeing?

Is it the mouse sticks down in the tree window when you link something in the generation window? Are you using maya-style controls or standard?

                              hey Greg, sorry about that.
Basically I've installed the trial and started playing around a bit.. (so using 'default' control scheme, NOT the Maya one).

Not sure what it's related to (don't know about the linking you're describing) ....but during the course of a day I would get a handful of occasions where the left-click (to tumble) wouldn't work anymore and instead would make the Sunlight rotate around.
Once I apply the trick I discribed above, it would go back to the normal tumble-behavior.

I'll try to pay attention to what I was doing prior to it happening again, in the future...and post an update. Thanks!
