  • Frond Count not working on legacy Spine generator from SpeedTree v6

When I open an SPM file from the SpeedTree v6 library (SaguaroCactus_RT.spm) in v8, the spines on the trunk and branches of the cactus, which are implemented as Frond geometry on a Spine generator, do not appear correctly. They look as if the Frond Count is set to 2 no matter what the value set in the UI is. Changing the value in the UI seems to have no effect. This file works as expected in SpeedTree 6 Modeler (v6.3.1).

Is this a known issue? We'd like to continue using this without having to recreate the legacy generators.

    Appreciate any info,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,

Thank you for letting us know about this issue, I will log this for our developers to look at. However, for the time being, I will give you a work around. Duplicate that 'Trunk' generator and in the 'Geometry Types' group, disable the 'Branch' and Cap' option. Then go to that generator's 'Frond' group and edit the 'Roll' property.

Sorry for the inconvience and hope this helps!
