  • Culling out flowers from middle of plant?

hey guys cross posting from polycount wondered if you pros could point me in the direction I should be looking at. I'm making a flowering bush, multiple trunks with bifurcating branches that split to separate branches with leaves and branches with the flowers. How can I setup the flower branches to be culled out from the middle of the bush? The only sort of workaround I found so far was to make separate trunks for the middle of the bush (and just have leaves on the branches) and then surround that with another ring of trunks with leaves+flowers. Not sure if there's a neater way of achieving this? Ignore the untidiness of the leaves etc I straigthened out the trunks and put proxy meshes in just for ease of example:
