Paint displacement + convert to hand drawn = trunk disappears

if you first paint displacement (Freehand) then convert to hand drawn, the trunk vanishes.
Steps to reproduce:
1. trunk
2. freehand -> displacement -> paint whatever
3. right click on trunk generator -> hand drawing -> convert to hand draw

result:
Trunk vanishes
