  • Help Needed: Creating Moving Shadow Silhouettes of Eucalyptus Trees in SpeedTree

    Dear SpeedTree Forum,

I am an artist seeking assistance with creating a moving art piece featuring the shadow silhouettes of Eucalyptus trees. As someone with general 3D knowledge, primarily in 3DS Max, I am reaching out to the SpeedTree community for guidance.

My main question is whether it is possible to render moving shadows directly in SpeedTree, or if I need to export the trees into 3DS Max. I apologize for the basic nature of this question and would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

I have attached an image for reference, showcasing the concept I am aiming to achieve. Any suggestions, tips, or instructions you can offer would be invaluable to me.

Thank you for your time and support. I eagerly await your response.

    Best regards,

    Lasource

    Hello lasource

    Those references are lovely!!

You can render a video directly in SpeedTree if you want and use it in a composition application after.

If you need a moving camera, you could animate it in 3ds Max and import it in the modeler. For a static one, directly go to Camera/Add Camera:

To change the viewport to your camera view, click on the top left option and choose your camera:

To export your sequence, go to File/Export Image Sequence:

You can find more information about the options there.

If you click on the RGB drop down menu, you'll see all the maps you can render:

Let us know if that helps!
