Unfortunately, SpeedTree does not close both ends of the caps. To get the top part to have the chopped look, the best thing to do is to make the tree trunk, export it, edit it in an outside program to get the top half to have the cut effect, fill the hole, then re-import it into SpeedTree. Once it is re-imported, you can then procedurally grow geometry from it.

    Sorry, hope this helps!

    Chopping the tree /Noob question

    Hi Guys,

Here is my second topic. I am playing a bit with Speedtree and is absolute MAGNIFICO

I do have a question concerning the cut tree generation. The lower part is pretty easy (the one containg the roots, just to be precise).
The top part, well I still did not figured out how to do!

So my question is : How can I obtain the CHOPPED up part of the tree? In few words, is possible to chop the tree starting from the bottom?

as info : my subscription is for Speedtree Modeler for Unity

    Thanks in advance
