  • Optimize Tree Export for Arnold Render?

    Hi, I'm new to Speedtree but had a question about exporting. I'm testing it with the Arnold Renderer but have problems as Arnold doesn't like to evaluate opacity. I tried the generate mesh option from material but that still gives me a mesh with an alpha material applied? What am I dong wrong?

    Hello,

    The generate mesh function makes a mesh that cuts out the bulk of the transparent parts in the texture, but it is not perfect. It is more designed to be a quick and easy way to do that. Plus it just makes a mesh, it doesn't change the texture you had on there before, the one with an alpha channel (transparency).

    If you want 100% no transparency, you might be better off making your leaf mesh in an external app like Maya. Use opaque textures and make your leaf mesh as exact as you need. Then use that on your tree
