  • SpeedTree 8 command line export

    Hello,

I tried command line exporting .spm to .abc. It worked with the following line:
"SpeedTree Modeler Cinema" /path/to/test.spm -export /path/to/test.abc

But I was wondering how can I change export options ? ("Group By", wind/fan settings, ...)

    Edit:
The help says there is the export_options argument:
export_options file - set options for exporting using the indicated ini file
I don't know what the ini file should look like though.

    Hello,

You're very close. You just need to add -export_options and pass it an ini file. The ini file can be made manually or by using the save button on the export mesh dialog.

    http://docs8.speedtree.com/modeler/d...e_command_line

If you're on Windows, be sure to call the .com instead of .exe or it will return immediately and you won't know when it is complete.

    Hope this helps

How could I miss this Great, thanks !
Is there a way to tweak wind direction (by adding values to that ini file or otherwise) ?

You can set wind strength in the ini file, and gusting on/off.

But currently you cannot change wind direction or any of the other wind properties. It uses what the tree was saved with.

Ok. Thanks for the fast answers.
Then, - a bit off-topic but - with the UI, is it possible to change wind values with vector/rotation values instead of using the Gizmo ?
