  • Materials need to be regenerated? - Unity 5.2

    I've upgraded an older project to unity5.2 and many of the leaf materials aren't working correctly. I am receiving the error "SpeedTree materials need to be regenerated." Then when opening that same tree in the Modeler I am getting error saying the textured failed to load. What is the fix for this? Thanks.

    Hey there,

    "Regenerate Materials" is an action within Unity itself. When you get the error message for a tree in Unity, navigate to the prefab in the Asset folder (in the open project). If you select the prefab, you can regenerate the materials in the Inspector window.

    My guess is that the reason you're getting the error message in the Modeler is that it's looking for the materials in the wrong location. I would suggest making sure the Modeler is pointed to the correct location for the materials. Perhaps updating the project in Unity caused a folder name to be changed or something like that.
