  • General advise for realistic looking leaves from picture to tree

Iplan to take a few pictures of leaves and create textures, any advice in terms of resolution, ( I know it should be in the shadow), does orientation of the leaf in the image matter?, which texture maps help get more realism? is it enough to have opacity and normal, and disregard the rest? or would you recommend a set of texture maps (AO?, subsurface, subsurface%) as well.
    Any guidance is much appreciated.

One think that helps a lot is having the 2 sides of the leaf. You probably noticed that one side is always darker and shiny, while the other side is more desaturated and more matte.

      Hi,

To achieve a more dynamic or realistic leaf material, I would suggest following the PBR material set up. We tend to have Color, Opacity, Gloss, Subsurface, Subsurface Amount and AO for our leaf textures.

Here is a link to our documentation page about the PBR material set-up in ST: http://docs8.speedtree.com/modeler/d...kcmaterialspbr

      Hope this helps!
