Strida The number of branches you could have splitting off with this method would be contingent on your generator settings (first & last, radius, count, frequency, & spread for starters!)

Experimenting to get the look you're trying to achieve is the best way to learn! Best of luck on your work!

Is there a cap on how many splits you can get this way?

Hey arno.bax : To answer this, I'll be linking you to our docs on splits: http://docs8.speedtree.com/modeler/doku.php?id=splits

In order to enable more than 2 splits in a trunk, you'll need to adjust the trunk generator's parameters in the skin tab (Skin > Splits > Chance).

Add your branch generator and, under the gen tab, set "Extend Parent" to "any". You can adjust the extended branches using the Spread settings under the trunk generator's skin tab; branch generator settings can then be modified to add to the split.

When you split a branch, the texture wrapping around it must also split cleanly: this means your U tiling must be divisible by two so it can accommodate being halved. (So, if you see a UV error after doing the above, be sure the absolute U of your generators are divisible by 2!)

    We hope this helps!

For example have three or four splits on one trunk or branch.

    Thank you in advance.
