  • is SpeedTree single threaded or multithreaded?

I've tried to understand why SpeedTree is much slower at handling geometry, I found this (attached, including one where I just moved the gizmo and had to wait half a minute).
Which leads me to the question: are SpeedTree processes single threaded or multi threaded?

I've asked speedtree to recompute the whole node network including mesh, branches, bifurcating branches, little and big branches, twigs, and watched the CPU limp, only one leg is working.
I can screen-record it if you need.
Planning later this year to get the 64 core CPU AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X (or its newer generation), it has 128 logical processors. It would be quite a unique experience to watch 1 logical processor choke and the other 127 having a speedtree coffee break.
It didn't cross my mind there would still be a software in the year 2020 that is single threaded.
Will the processes be updated to become multithreaded?
